If you liked midian more than dusk you will really love this album as it is more "goth" than midian. Most of the songs that are about two minutes or less are actually the profesional orcestra and choir that sony paid for. They do a excellent job of making atmosphere and on their own make for a very dark romantic songs. The production values are far better than previous albums. THe line noise that you could pick up from the recording (its not my speakers as they are Klipsch) is fully gone and everything is crisp and clear. Now for Cradle Of Filth themselves its kind of a mixed bag. Dani's vocals become more and more clear which pisses me off but he still has the momeny of low growls that go into high pitches screaming in no time which is pretty uniquely Dani. Wether you like it or not is you own personal choice. Personally the only song I liked it on was Mannequin. With Gian out of the band the guitars do seem to be lacking but Paul does a good job of trying to maintain the mteal edge. Still the guitars are way to chopy and more of mudvayns "dig" and the band disturbed than I would have liked it to been. Although in certain songs the sound really does belong as in Babylon A.D., its just sounds right. Overall I think the Atmopshere of the Choir and Orestra help add a ton of atomsphere and if you loved that about midian you will surely love this album. Oh in my opinion Mannequin is the stand out track in this album as they harmonize the sara jezebels vocals with the guitars for a awesome chorus. But back to the point. If you like hardcore black metal pass this up as it will be ever more reason to hate COF. If you like experimantal music and what COF does and enjoyed their later albums but this as you can see what they do, they do realyl really well. As my friend said you are just to closed minded to like unique music, black metal bands all sound the same, but COF actually is differnt than all of them and isnt that what black metal is all about? So if you like midian i give it a 9 if you hated midian and are looking for Black Metal i give it a 5 (its worht just hearing the choir and orcestra parts on their own).
