So just imagine the excitement when you heard that a new edition of Guitar Hero is coming in September based on Rush's 1976 amazing epic 2112. Exclusively, the 20-minute, seven-song suite that opens the album is the focus of the game. The award-winning and much-admired documentary about RUSH, called "Rush Beyond The Lighted Stage", arrived on DVD and Blu-ray after premiering and winning the Audience Choice Award at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival this past April. The film, which traces the band's complete career from the late Sixties until now, made its TV premiere on June 26 on VH1 Classic. The band released two new tracks, "Caravan" and "BU2B", online and will return to the studio after the tour to complete its next album, titled "Clockwork Angels". RUSH received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on June 25 in Los Angeles, with the band inducted by SMASHING PUMPKINS frontman and longtime fan Billy Corgan. After years of getting pigeonholed as a band for nerdy men (a stereotype even the musicians have good-naturedly embraced), Rush has become a family experience, judging by all the fathers with young children in the spectators when the Canadian trio performed Monday at Mohegan Sun. Mental and physical. Physical suffering is anything to do with body. Mental is simply mind. As humanity is today, mental suffering is there most of the time. Conflict comes from the mind, not from the physical. Even when there is no attack, we feel afflicted. An example; When we happen to live in an area where there is any form of natural disaster and hundreds of people die, we call that a tragedy. When there is a natural disaster that happens where no humans live, but maybe some animals and nothing else, we don't call it a tragedy. Whenever something happens where a human being is, it means that the identity of the being of 'human being' is being affected and dealt with in some way. All conflicts in the human world come from the mind. Nothing else. There is literally no other way to have conflict and resulted suffering from it. Even in physical pain. Physical pain cannot last as long as mental pain. Even if it does last very long, the mind will amplify its effect and turbulent experience by entertaining it with racing thoughts about the pain and how to get rid of it; even when it can't. Worldwide suffering is the result of the full belief in the mind. It is clearly evident because there are plenty phenomena to say this. A basic example of this is countries. There is no need for countries. Humanity somehow has been able to condition itself into believing that there are actual borders. Identities have been created and are 100% believed in. This is the root of all suffering in the world. We have made it a point to be different from one another. In other words; we have idealized ourselves and now there is a reason to feel superior or inferior to one another. It may seem like that is a very radical way of seeing it, but when the observation is made, it becomes clear that it is the way it is. It is very radical, because this behaviour leaves no room for space and conflict can simply continue. Even though we have created mental borders where to go or not go, we could still physically go anywhere on the planet. As far as having peace in the world goes; there is no need to wait. There is no need to wait for the rest of humanity to be at peace. Making the observation of seeing what you really are is well-being. Well-being is not what someone else can experience for you. Once a full confronting observation of ourselves in being alone as individuals has been made and seen through, we can finally really meet. Then only is there no conflict, because identity lost its power. From heremore practical and fullfilling moments can happen. When that happens a life lived renders itself to be richer, ironically enough. The first side has Persistance In Mourning, an American funereal doom outfit who has had a couple of releases on Universal Tongue and At War With False Noise; they offer up three tracks of miserable, bass-heavy doom crawl, influenced by classic death/funereal doom like Thergothon and Evoken, but with some noisy, electronic elements incorporated into their sound. The beginning of the first track "We Are The Lost" is a rumbling sorrowful bass line winding through pools of grit and fuzz and dissonant minor key guitar, the drums totally absent at first, surrounded by harsh, wretched screams. Then the drums drop in, glacial and massive, along with some sung vocals backed by those blackened shrieks, and it starts to sound a little like some suicidal doom cover of a Sebadoh song, super heavy and utterly morose, but also strangely pretty. That's followed by a cover of "Epoch Of Denial" by Dutch death metallers Sinister, here transformed into something infinitely slower and more oppressive, and bathed in squealing electronics and hissy distortion. Strange backwards spoken word and fluttering 8-bit electronic gunk squirms right into the last song "Stinking Of Fever", a mass of gritty noize flux and ghastly guitar chords floating in filth, demonic reverse voices, the whole thing really abstract, a mysterious fractured soundscape; eventually, the guitar coalesces into a simple melody rising high above the murky chaos, then the heaviness flows in, a massive slow moving doom riff drifting disembodied as distorted, power electronics style vocals echo and reverberate overhead, a strange mix of funereal, somber doom and electronic detritus, but again, strangely pretty... On the other side of the cassette, Vomir (as usual) completely flattens the brain with a single eighteen minute track of crushing, pitch-black harsh distortion avalanche, a seemingly endless pulverizing maelstrom of bone-splintering bottom end and swirling black magma that rolls over you without pause. There's a massive bass presence on this track, a monstrous grinding low end throb beneath the crunch and scrape and roar, and it almost sounds as if incredibly distorted and over-modulated demonic voices are speaking from within the heart of the nuclear storm.
